Desiccant Masterbatches

Why Use Desiccant Masterbatches?

Desiccant masterbatches can counter problems which develop during the processing of plastics due to the presence of moisture and prevents adsorption of moisture during transportation. Moisture can be present in raw materials such as hygroscopic polymers, fillers and pigments. Reprocess polymer can also have high moisture content. When processing polymer with high moisture content the polymer can become porous and show voids/lower tensile in the final articles or extruded/blown sheet. In film applications the high moisture content can lead to film bubble breakage.

Action of Desiccant Masterbatches :

Desiccant masterbatch chemically binds moisture during processing and allows higher levels of reprocess polymers & fillers to be used

AddKan Desiccant Masterbatches :

AddKan Desiccant Masterbatches are based on extra pure Calcium Oxide minerals. These masterbatches are used in eliminating moisture in virgin and recycled LD, LLDPE, HM, PP, etc. These are mainly used in blown film, moulding & raffia.

AddKan Desiccant Masterbatches help reduce :

  • Fish Eyes
  • SPorosity
  • Windows/lenses in films;
  • Silver streak in molding.

AddKan Desiccant Masterbatches has the following advantages :

  • Increases filler addition level
  • Improves surface properties
  • Increases STRENGTH
  • Increases Reprocess polymer addition level

AddKan Dessicant Masterbatches :

There is two types of Dessicant Masterbatches available Desiccant Masterbatches (AD/01/0034) – Suitable for multilayer & blow moulding applications.

Eco Desiccant Masterbatches (AD/01/0038) - Economical version of AD/01/0034 & suitable for monolayer, raffia & other thick section applications.
