![]() | Why use Slip Masterbatches : Polyolefin films tend to conform to themselves and with the metal surfaces owing to their high coefficient of friction (COF). For processing ease, these films need a COF near 0.2. These Masterbatches modify the surface properties of a film and hence lowers the friction between film layers and other surfaces. In order to be effective the slip requires to move out of the polymer to the surface and therefore requires a degree of incompatibility with the polymer. Action of Slip Masterbatches : Fatty acid amides are often find application as slip additives. During processing these masterbatches are solubilized in the amorphous melt, but as the cooling of the polymer occurs the fatty acid amide is squeezed out thus forming a lubricating layer at the polymer surface. Film sticking can be prevented by addition of slip additive and pulling helps to increase throughput. AddKan Slip Masterbatches : Kandui's AddKan Slip additive masterbatches are based on highly pure euracamide slip additive. An excellent release agent for all polyolefins, it is applied in injection form and rotational moulding. These master batches reduces the coefficient of friction on the surface of PE films, thus making it extremely smooth. It also improves the melt flow characteristics and cycle times.
